WORLD CLASS MEDICAL CENTER PLANNED FOR SUBIC BAY
Medtecs
International and TotalMED Corp., two leading health care service
providers in the Philippines and Asia conducted a well attended and
highly successful joint presentation on medical tourism at the SBDMC
building on October 17, 2007. Plans for a world class MedTecs-Totalmed
medical center at the MedTecs building were also unveiled. Attending
the event were SBMA CEO and Administrator Armand Arreza, Chairman Yang,
KC of MedTecs, Dr. Ray Ricardo, CEO of TotalMed, Dr. Connie Chow and
Dr. C. Chen of Taiwan’s Min Sheng Health Systems, and Mr. Jeff
Lin, President of SBDMC. Also present were Dr. A. Aventura, founding
Med. Dir. of the Phil. Heart Center and TotalMed Vice-Chairman, and
Dr. Bu Castro, former PMA President and Medical Director of TotalMed.
Mr. Arreza, Chairman Yang, Pres. Lin, Drs. Ricardo, Aventura and Castro
all gave a brief discussion of the need for and the plans for a premiere
medical center which will serve Subic Bay and surrounding areas. A sumptuous
lunch followed at the Yacht club, courtesy of MedTecs.
Chairman Yang K.C. gave a short talk about his company,
MedTecs, which is a multinational company manufacturing medical consumables.
Dr. Raymond C. Ricardo, CEO of TotalMed, presented an overview of medical
tourism and plans for a combined MedTecs-TotalMed hospital, in partnership
with Min Sheng Health Systems. The new facility will be housed in a
15000 sq. m building located in the commercial section of SB Industrial
Park, near the Convention Center. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art
technology and will be manned by physicians trained in the Philippines
and in the US. Most of the medical staff will have specialty training
and board certifications. All services including cutting edge research
in organ transplant and stem cells will be provided.
The presentation in Subic Bay was held after a separate forum on medical
tourism held at the InterContinental Hotel, on Nov. 16 to coincide with
the 20th Annual Joint Meeting of the Chinese-Philippine and Philippine
Chinese Business Councils. Representatives of the Taiwan and Philippine
government and private hospital administrators and physicians attended
the forum.
